5 Things Witnessed As Manchester United Beat Everton 2-0 To Qualify For Carabao Cup Semi Final

Manchester United played against Everton at the Goodison Park on Wednesday night December 23. The was a Carabao Cup quarter final match between the two sides. The match was so tight as each side yearned to progress to the semi finals. Manchester United were lucky to beat Everton 2-0 very late towards the end of the match. This officially booked a place in the semi finals for the Red Devils. The following happened in that match.


1. Edinson Cavani’s goal.

Edinson Cavani gave the Red Devils the first goal towards the end of the match. He scored in the 88th minute after getting an assist from Anthony Martial. United had really struggled and this paid off their efforts.


2. Anthony Martial’s goal.

In the added time past 90 minutes, Anthony Martial doubled the lead for Manchester United. This was so fantastic and it meant that Man United were already through to the semi finals. He was assisted by Marcus Rashford.


3. Man United’s clean sheet.

Man United were able to reap a clean sheet out of that match. This was a great moment for their goalkeeper Dean Henderson who is in the process of gaining much confidence between the sticks for his team. This also shows that the defence was steady enough not to allow Everton go past them and score.

4. Everton’s zero cards.

Everton players played in the most disciplined manner. None of them was booked by the referee for any serious foul.


5. Man United’s ball possession.

Manchester United were great when it came to ball possession. They really controlled the game very well and that’s why they finished the match with a ball possession of 61%. That was really nice of them.
