5 Talking Points From Arsenal’s 4-1 Loss Against Manchester City

Arsenal welcomed Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium for an EFL Cup quarter final match on Tuesday December 22. The game was so tight between the two sides. Arsenal were looking forward to put to an end their recent bad form but still they were not lucky that night. The Gunners were beaten 4-1 by their visitors Manchester City. Man City have now proceeded to the semi final. This was again another blow to The Gunners and the leadership of Mikel Arteta. The following is what happened in that thrilling match.

1. Manchester City’s early lead.

Manchester City got the lead early in the match courtesy of Gabriel Jesus who scored the goal in the 3rd minute. He was assisted by Oleksandr Zinchenko. Man City started pressing hard to get a more convincing win.

2. Lacazette’s equalizer.

Alexandre Lacazette equalized for Arsenal in the 32nd minute after getting an assist from Gabriel Martinelli. This goal brought back Arsenal to the same level as City before heading to the half time break.

3. Riyad Mahrez’s goal.

Riyad Mahrez scored Manchester City’s second goal in the 55th minute. Arsenal started losing morale and control of the game once again. Manchester City were looking strong and threatening to score more and more.

4. Phil Foden’s great performance.

Man City’s Phil Foden portrayed a great performance in that match. He scored City’s third goal in the 59th minute after being assisted by Fernandinho. He later offered an assist to Aymeric Laporte for the fourth goal. It was a fantastic night for the young lad. All of the Man City’s squad seemed to enjoy the game very well.

5. Aymeric Laporte’s goal.

Aymeric Laporte netted the fourth and the last goal for Manchester City in the 73rd minute. The assist to this goal came from none other than Phil Foden. Man City finished it in style as they left Arsenal suffering from another disappointing results.
