Burnley welcomed West Ham United at the Turf Moor on Monday night, May 3 for a very tight premier league clash. Both sides looked energetic and were aiming nothing less than a win.
The visitors turned out to be the luckiest that night. The Hammers managed to beat their hosts Burnley 2-1. Despite Burnley scoring first, West Ham were determined to win hence they came from behind and won the match.
West Ham’s sensational man Jesse Lingard, who is on loan from Manchester United, was not lucky enough to find the net like always.
West Ham now sit on position 5 on the premier league table with 58 points while Burnley are at position 16 with 36 points. They are only 6 points away from the relegation zone. What was witnessed in that match is as follows.
1.Chris Wood’s goal.
Burnley were the first to find the net through a goal scored by Chris Wood. He scored in the 19th minute from the penalty spot. The penalty was awarded to Burnley after West Ham’s Tomas Soucek tripped Chris Wood in the penalty area. Their lead didn’t last for long.
2. Michail Antonio’s brace.
West Ham’s forward Michail Antonio was superb that night. He secured a brace in the first half enabling West Ham to come back and win. He scored in the 21st and 29th minutes after getting assists from Vladimir Coufal and Said Benrahma respectively.
3. West Ham’s ball possession.
The two teams tried their best in almost everything. West Ham seemed a little bit stronger than Burnley and that’s why they were able to be slightly above Burnley in ball possession. They dominated for quite a long time. They finished the match with a ball possession of 56%.
