The Covid-19 Pandemic that first began in Wuhan China has proved to be the worst catastrophe that has ever hit the country.

The world is at it knees as the countries which had re-opened their economy made a decision to close again over the rise in the Corona virus cases.

Yesterday the COVID-19 tally crossed the 70,000 mark after 972 test positive from 6,648 samples tested in the last 24 hours, bring the total of the confirmed cases in the country to 70,245.

Death-toll rose to 1,269 after 20 more patients succumbed to the virus, 352 people were discharged after full recovery.

Citizen TV held an interview with various health stakeholders to get their perspective concerning the covid-19 situation in the country.

Chibanzi Mwachonda, AG. Secretary General KMPD raised an alarm over the health sector as he revealed that the ICU space is full, worse still 2 of the doctors who died last week were waiting for space in ICU.

” The sad reality is that going into ICU is almost up to 90% chance of you not making it out alive,” Chibanzu said.

Sylvia Kasanga who is a Nominated Senetor revealed that there were serious gaps when it came to accountability of COVID-19 funds sent to counties, County Assemblies reported none of the counties were able to oversight COVI-19 funds sent to counties.

“The curfews and first measures were to slow down infections & flatten the curb so as to not burden the health care system. The high numbers are not a surprise; we are in a serious situation & I feel for our health care workers,” Sylvia Kasanga, Nominated Senator remarked.
